Area Chart with Negative Values
This type of chart incorporates the negative values associated with some types of data such as loss. The given graph depicts the gross profit/loss in thousands per month for three different entities. A negative value would indicate a loss. In this example we compared gross profits/losses for 3 businesses and can see that Northwind Products experiences the most loss during June (which is also the most loss overall). Businesses would often require an analysis on the profit/loss margin, which would mean incorporating both profit and loss at the same time and visualizing it to understand the current trends. This chart helps to achieve it.
